Tiffany Cavanaugh Squiggle Hangings

  1. Pour PVA glue into a disposable plastic tray
  2. Place meter length pieces of yarn of various colours on the table for kids to choose from
  3. Place squares of wax paper or baking paper in front of each child (write the child’s name on the paper)
  4. Encourage the kids to put the yarn into the tray of glue, completely covering the yarn in glue
  5. Have the kids place the gluey yarn onto the wax paper in any shape they like
  6. When the kids have finished their shape, allow the glue to dry completely before removing it from the wax paper.
  7. Thread a piece of yarn through one of the holes in the shape and hang.

Additional ideas:

  1. Draw or print out a simple line drawing
  2. Place the drawing underneath the wax paper so it shows through
  3. encourage the kids to tlace the yarn in the shape shown either by using the yarn to fill in the shape or trace the shape with the yarn making the lines on the wax paper.
