- fold a piece of waxed paper in two
- draw a half butterfly with the body at the fold
- open the waxed paper and put it on a paper towel on the table
- sprinkle (prepared) crayon shavings onto the waxed paper in the butterfly shape
- cover the waxed paper with another piece of waxed paper
- have an adult iron the twp pieces of waxed paper together on low heat (protect the iron by putting a paper towel on top of the waxed paper while ironing).
- allow to cool
- using scissors, cut out the butterfly
- punch a hole in the head of the butterfly
- thread a piece of string through the hole to make a loop
- tie and hang in a window
you can do this with any shape- melted wax is a great new way to look at crayons and to recycle broken ones.
